1st Barcelona Santa Claus Race
A tide of 3,000 Santas, Mums and Elves conquers the streets of Barcelona
This morning the most Christmassy, family-friendly and fun race was held with 3,000 participants who wanted to start Christmas doing sport.
The winner of the race was Stanislav Popov, completing the 4.8-kilometre course in 14'39". In the women's category, the champion was Laura López with a time of 18'11".
Barcelona, 22nd December 2024 - The 1st Barcelona Santa Claus Race was a great success, bringing together 3,000 participants in this 1st edition who dyed the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona in the red and white of Santa Claus (interspersed with the green and white of the elf costumes worn by children under 12 years old). The 4.8-kilometre race began at 10:30 a.m. in the Parc del Fòrum with the arrival of Santa Claus himself, and the 3,000 participants enjoyed the urban route, kicking off Christmas in a fun, family-friendly and sporty way.
In the men's category, the winner was Stanislav Popov, with a time of 14:39”. Andrejus Dolgovas finished second, 8” behind, and Mykhaylo Kordyukov finished third, 47” behind. In the women's category, the champion was Laura López, with a time of 18:11”, followed by Mamen del Castillo, 36” behind, and Marina García, 56” behind.
The participants were also able to stop by the photocall where Santa Claus himself was to pose for photos, and they enjoyed a Zumba Kids session with Patricia Roncero.
A SOLIDARITY RACE
The Red Cross has received a donation of one euro from each registration for the project Raising Positively, to promote child welfare by supporting and accompanying families in situations of social vulnerability, in their roles of care, upbringing and education of the girls, boys or adolescents in their care. In addition, during the runner's fair, the Red Cross set up a collection of new toys for the most disadvantaged children.
On the other hand, the Santa Claus race circuit (Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Zaragoza, Santander, Oviedo and Santiago de Compostela) has managed to raise 3,317 euros through Dorsal 0 to benefit those affected by DANA. The Red Cross will receive this contribution to continue its reconstruction work and tasks of recovery of homes in the affected areas.

With more than 3,500 registered, it will become one of the largest races in the world with these characteristics
With departure in Can zam it will be the most fun and familiar sporting event of the year
Santa Coloma de Gramenet, December 21, 2019.- Tomorrow the first edition of the Santa Claus de Santa Coloma Race will be held, leaving at 10.30am through the streets of the center of this city. It is a popular and festive sports event, aimed at all audiences, and that can be done with family or friends.
It is organized by the companies Motorpress Ibérica and La Sansi, and has the support of the City Council and the collaboration of the Association of Commerce and Industry of Santa Coloma. More than 3,500 registrants, both adults and children, have been obtained from all over Catalonia.
Test Features
The test will consist of a 5 km route, totally urban, through the streets of the city, with departure and finish from the Besòs river road, next to the Antonio Amorós running tracks.
It is an activity included in the program of the Major Winter Festival of Santa Coloma, and the calendar of the Catalan Athletics Federation, and will feature its judges. Throughout the day there will be several surprises, aimed at all citizens.
End of the year races
Currently in Spain only one race with similar characteristics is held in Madrid, which took place on December 8 (VII edition), and attended by thousands of Pope Noeles and elves.
In Santa Coloma, everything and being the first edition, more than 3,500 registered have been achieved which would make it a race with more participation than those held at the end of the year in Catalonia, after the Cursa dels Nassos in Barcelona (12,000 registered) also organized by La Sansi, and ahead of recognized San Silvestres. In addition, it would also become one of the largest in the world of Santa Claus.
